Wide Open Door

I’ve never traveled on this road before.
Never even seen this wide open door,
But I’m here today, this must be my way to explore
To turn around, won’t take me back again.
That road is gone, the one that led me in.
I feel it in my feet, that road is complete,
It led me here to where I must begin.
Another day, another door,
Another road, stretching out before me.
Always moving on and always here,
And always left behind.
Another door, another day,
May take me back another way,
The heart is the only compass.
Warm hearts melt the frost of fear.
Another day, another year – Another laugh, another fear.
Another cry, another beer – Another job, or lost career.
Another love another gain – Another smile another pain.
Another song with this refrain – has led me here,
And the next step is just a start,
And the heart is the only compass
Without or within, did we lose or did we win?
Was it love or was it sin? Is there a lie behind your grin?
Is it age or is it youth? For faith do we need proof?
In the basement or on the roof, I must begin.
And the next step is just a start,
And the heart is the only compass,
I’ve never traveled on this road before.
Never even seen this wide open door…
